How to Strengthen Your Core

April 13th, 2012

Eight out of ten people will experience some sort of back pain or injury throughout their lives. What is the most common reason for these people’s back pain? Having weak core muscles. Without the proper strength in your core muscles, they cannot protect your body from pain and injury.

In order to avoid back problems (and get that six pack you’ve always wanted) strength training is mandatory. Here are a few core exercises you don’t want to leave out of your routine.

Pelvic Tilts

Start lying down on your back with your knees bent. Place your hand under your lower back where it is most likely not touching the ground. Breathe out while trying to flatten you lower back onto the floor (smashing your hand) by tilting your pelvis backward. Hold, and return to the starting position. As you get more comfortable with this exercise, you don’t need to place your hand under your back.

Side Planks

Lay down on your side, resting on your forearm, with your legs bent about 90 degrees. Slowly lift your hips off of the ground so that only your legs (from the knees down) and your forearm are touching the ground. Be sure that your hips are stacked on top of each other (don’t lean forward or backward). Hold and lower your hips back to the ground. Repeat on your other side.

To make this exercise harder you can straighten your legs so that when you raise your hips off of the ground, only your feet and forearm are touching the ground.

Stability Ball Knee Tucks

Start face down in regular pushup position with your shins resting on a stability ball. Be sure that your core is tight and not sagging or sticking up in the air. (Make sure that your pelvis is tilted back, just like in the pelvic tilt exercise.) This may be enough of an exercise for some people.

To give yourself more of a challenge: While in this position, bend your knees tucking them into your chest and rolling the ball closer to you. Then straighten your legs back out.

Get The Most out of Your Workout

It can be hard work toning your midsection. That is why many people have turned to weight loss supplements for a little help. One weight loss supplement that can help you flatten your midsection is Lipofuze. Read some Lipofuze reviews to learn more.

Tighten Up

Now is the time to tighten up that core, not just for vanity reasons (that six pack is going to look great by the way), but for health reasons. Remember that these are not the only core exercises that will strengthen your core, but they will certainly give you a jump start on your routine.

Effective Weight Loss Supplements – What Ingredients You Should Look For

April 9th, 2012

Do you need help getting over your weight loss plateau? A weight loss supplement may be just the boost that you need.

Finding a weight loss supplement with ingredients that have been proven safe and effective can be difficult.

There are so many different weight loss supplements with so many different ingredients and they all claim to be made of the best ingredients.

Which ingredients should you look for in your next weight loss supplement? Here is a look at a few safe ingredients that can effectively help you lose weight.

Coenzyme Q10

Coenzyme Q10 is produced by the human body but as you age, your body produces less and less of this chemical.

Coenzyme Q10 has a list of different benefits including benefits for your heart, decreasing migraines, promoting periodontal disease, and decreasing blood pressure. These are all great benefits, but the benefit that you are probably most interested in is the weight loss benefit it can have.

Coenzyme Q10 participates in the process that generates energy for your cells. With more energy, you can burn more calories throughout your day. Coenzyme Q10 is also known to be an antioxidant. Antioxidants are known to eliminate harmful, toxic substances from your body that may be preventing you from losing weight and looking your best.

Caffeine

Caffeine is found in a great deal of weight loss supplements and beverages.

Caffeine is thought to aid weight loss by stimulating thermogenesis. Thermogenesis is one way that your body creates heat to digest food and burn calories. With your thermogenesis turned up, you can expect to burn more of the calories that you put into your body.

Caffeine is said to suppress appetite. With your cravings gone, you will be able to control how much food you eat in order to avoid overeating . Caffeine has also been shown to increase your energy levels.

Cissus Quadrangularis

This ingredient is another appetite suppressant. In one clinical trial, subjects who took a supplement that included Cissus Quadrangularis, and green tea reduced their body weight by four to eight percent while the placebo group lost just under three percent of their body weight.

Cissus Quadrangularis is also known to support your joint health. With healthy joints, you can enjoy your new, lean body to its fullest.

Lipofuze

One weight loss supplement that includes these and other proven ingredients to help you lose weight is Lipofuze. Lipofuze is made up of “10 patented weight loss ingredients” that can help you lose weight by suppressing your appetite, burning fat, and boosting your energy. If you are interested in reading more about Lipofuze, Lipofize reviews may give you the information you want to know.

Choose Wisely

With all of the weight loss supplements on the market right now, it can be easy to become overwhelmed with all of your choices. It is worth your time to do a little investigating. Make sure the ingredients have been tried and tested to be safe and effective. There are good supplements out there, you just have to find them.

H2O: The Benefits of Drinking Water

February 6th, 2012

Everyone has heard that you need to drink at least 8 cups of water a day, but do you know why? Research has shown that the benefits of drinking water can do anything from speeding up weight loss to helping you to relax more easily.

Lose Weight

Drinking water can help you lose weight! Believe it or not, it’s true. When you drink a full glass of water before eating a meal, you are much more likely to eat less food and fewer calories. You won’t even need to feel guilty as you drink an entire glass because water has absolutely zero calories. If you are thinking about using top diet pills, you can bet that it will recommend that you take it with water as well.

Avoid Headaches

Do you ever start to get a headache around the middle of the day? If you do, chances are that you are experiencing one of the symptoms of mild dehydration. This is because the brain is made primarily of fluid. When your water intake is decreased, the brain does not receive as much blood or oxygen as it needs.

Get Better Skin

When you drink enough water, your skin will thank you because it receives the moisture that it needs to operate healthily. Remember, your skin is the largest organ in your body, which means that it requires as much nourishment as the organs you can’t see. When you drink enough water, your cells are hydrated, making them look fresher and younger.

Sweat, Sweat, Sweat!

While sweating may not be the most attractive look, it is certainly one of the healthiest things your body does for you. During exercise, sweat is secreted in the sudoriferous glands to cool the body down. It also washes toxins out of your pores to keep your skin clear and healthy. When you drink enough water, your sweat glands are able to function properly, keeping your temperature normal and your skin looking as pretty as rose (even if it doesn’t smell like a rose).

Feel the Burn

Because water doesn’t have any calories, it travels pretty quickly through the digestive system. If you have ever been stuck in a car on a long drive after drinking a bottle of water, you know this. Because it moves so quickly, however, it actually speeds up your metabolism so that the food you eat passes much more quickly through your body, helping you to lose weight.

Say No to Injuries

Water lubricates joints and muscles to keep them functioning properly. When they are deprived of hydration, joints sprain and muscles cramp much more easily. If you want to avoid crippling injuries, make sure to stay hydrated.

Bust the Stress

When the body is sufficiently hydrated, you feel relaxed and in a good mood. Not only this, but you won’t have to worry about developing cancer as much because it has been shown to reduce the risk of bladder and colon cancer significantly. So go ahead! Take a deep drink of water and breathe easy as you experience all of the amazing benefits of hydration.

How to Stop Eating Too Much

December 14th, 2011

The Trick to Stop Overeating Before It Stops You

We all know that overeating is one of the biggest reasons for weight gain, especially when your metabolism isn’t running quite as fast as it used to, but how many of us know how to stop it?

You might think that the key to eating less is just to put down your fork, but anyone who has tried that method knows that it is much more complicated than it sounds.

Our Appetites

The truth is, our appetites and feelings of hunger and fullness are triggered by many more things than just the amount of food in our bellies.

In fact, the smell of the food, the color of your plate, even the temperature of the room can all have an impact on how much your brain says to eat.

Although there are definitely a lot of triggers that cause us to put more calories into our mouth than we need, research has told us enough to know how to fight those cravings and actually win!

Swap Your Dinnerware

The facts are in: people with white plates eat more. If you can’t see a color contrast on your plate, people tend to serve themselves more food.

For instance, if you’re serving yourself mashed potatoes and you’ve got a white plate, you’re likely to scoop out more of the starchy vegetable because your eyes can’t really see the full scope of how much food is on your plate.

Researchers found out that when people can see the contrast between their food and plate, say a red plate with mashed potatoes, on average, people scooped ten percent less.

Although ten percent might not sound like a lot, if you cut down just ten percent of your calories, you’re looking at a deficit of at least twenty pounds of fat a year.

Look for A Supplement

Even though you might think of dietary supplements as just able to stimulate your metabolism, there have also been many safe diet pills that have been found to reduce your appetite.

Ingredients such as Chromium, Irvingia Gabonensis and Hoodia Gordonii have all been proven to intercept the hormones that tell your brain you are hungry, allowing you to feel fuller for longer.

In fact, research has found the diet pill Apidextra to be one of the safest and effective ways to quell your metabolism and allow you to eat less and burn more calories.

Turn the Heat Up

If you’re in a cold room and you’re presented with a hot plate of food, it’s no surprise that we would all be tempted to fork down as much of the hot calories into our bodies.

This tactic is a survival skill passed down from our ancestors to keep them warm in the winter. However, because most of our problems with temperature tend to be based on an ill-adjusted thermostat, we don’t have to fork down hot meats to keep warm.

Instead of eating yourself warm, stop being a Scrooge and turn up the heat a little. This added heat will make you more comfortable and will actually lower your appetite.

Losing the Freshman 15

June 8th, 2011

You’re away from home for the first time, away at college. Your budget is tight, while your jeans are getting tighter, and those last few dollars can either be spent on the dollar menu or a bushel of broccoli at the grocery store. We’ve all been there. You chose the dollar menu.

Effects on Your Body

The Freshman 15 is a common phenomenon amongst younger college students who are just starting out on their own and no longer have unlimited resources to healthy food or parents monitoring their nutritional choices. You don’t play sports like you did in High School, and your metabolism is slowing to a healthy, normal rate, not the rapid speed you got away with while you were still growing. Baby, you’re a grown-up now, it’s time to eat like one.

Changing Your Habits

There are plenty of dieting schemes out there that advertise their quick and easy ways of losing weight. Avoid these at all costs. Here’s why: it’s going to be tempting to want to try fad-diets when you are first attempting weight-loss, because honestly, they do show results quickly. But losing water-weight and losing fat are two very different stories, and you aren’t going to be pleased with how quickly water-weight comes back or how awful you feel if you starve yourself. You need your brain to work; you’re in school, after all.

Make Time to Exercise

In college it’s hard to find time for yourself; with school, a social life, work, and other commitments, it’s nearly impossible to find that time to dedicate just to you. We advise you skip out on some of your social obligations and give that time to your body. You will be a better student if you find time to exercise. Exercise stimulates happy hormones in your body, and if you look great—chances are your social commitments will become increasingly attractive…

Learn to Cook

Learning to cook and planning your meals ahead of time is the easiest way to save money, and ensure you’re eating healthy. It doesn’t have to be time consuming, there are hundreds of cookbooks on the market that teach you how to make quick, easy, nutritious meals that will hold you through your years of school.

Supplementing

Taking supplements can be increasingly helpful while in school. This is because proper nutrition can stimulate brain function, metabolism, immune system, hormone function, and overall mood. If you’re healthy, chances are that you’re happy, and supplementation can be of huge benefit to you, particularly if you’re trying to lose weight. One of our favorite all-natural (and healthy) diet pills is SlimVox. SlimVox supports overall wellness and also stimulates the metabolism while balancing hormones within the body. This is the smartest approach to healthy weight-loss because it isn’t cheating your body out of anything; it’s creating balance within your system so that it’s running smoothly. Try SlimVox today!

Over The Counter Weight Loss Pills For Women

May 20th, 2011

Weight Loss
The battle of the sexes runs deeper than most people think. The old cliché men are from Mars and women are from Venus doesn’t exactly refer to the differences between weight loss and weight gain in males and females, but it could have.

Women pay attention to details, which really means women definitely notice that men lose weight faster. It seems men can count a couple calories and work out at the gym maybe Tuesdays and Thursdays and lose weight as fast as losing money in Vegas. Whereas losing weight for a woman is practically an ordeal.

Men vs Women

So does a woman keep her muffin tops longer than the average male’s beer gut? The real answer lies in our genetics. The reality of it is that men are built larger. Men have the hormone testosterone, which means they have more muscle than women. Ultimately, men are engineered to have a higher percentage of muscle and less fat. These gender specific genetics work in favor of men, keeping them more fit and permitting them to eat more calories.

Lean body mass in males is the key for their faster metabolism. With more muscle, men have higher metabolisms to burn more calories. Some studies even report that the average metabolism of a male is between 5 to 10 percent higher than a woman with the same height and weight.
Women Weight Loss
Another major weight loss disadvantage women have is the ability to reproduce. In this case, the miracle of child birth can be a blessing and a curse. Because women are wired to reproduce the female body has more enzymes to store fat and less to burn fat. The high levels of estrogen in a woman also make storing fat easier.

How Can Women Lose Weight?

These facts prove that men have an advantage when it comes to avoiding weight gain and deciding to lose weight. A way for women to even the playing field can be the use of diet pills designed for women. Diet pills that are tailored for the female physique compensate for differences between a man and women. Diet pills don’t substitute a healthy lifestyle and exercise but they can help enhance your weight loss efforts and accelerate your weight loss goals.

The best diet pills for women are engineered to compensate for the biological advantages and disadvantages between men and women. Weight loss pills for women should help boost the metabolism and even stabilize fluctuating hormones in order to help women lose weight effectively and efficiently.

How Do I Lose Weight

March 4th, 2011

The uphill climb of weight loss is difficult no matter how you go about it. You have to work to lose weight.

That work may include giving up the foods that you love or sacrificing hours at the gym. But some diet plans are more effective than others. The question for most people is not how to lose weight fast but is rather how to lose weight period. You can find more information about losing weight fast at loseweightfast.net

In order to construct a diet plan you need to determine why you gained weight in the first place. First look at what you are eating. Does your day begin with a caramel Frappuccino and muffin and end with a pizza and potato chips? Your diet problems do not even need to be that extreme. Most of the calories Americans consume are through beverages. They start with sugary coffee drinks, progress onto soft drinks, and end with alcohol. Just because they are liquids does not mean they are not high in calories. One iced coffee can be as much as two hundred calories. Soda pop adds on at least two hundred more. And alcohol tips the scales all on its own.

So rather than eating a two thousand-calorie diet, you are adding on eight hundred or more unnecessary calories that are mostly comprised of sugar. The first step is to eliminate these excess foods and beverages, or at least minimize them. The body craves fruits, vegetables, whole wheat, and lean meats. Make these components the focus of your diet by following My Pyramid. Pay attention to how much you eat. Just because bread can be good for you doesn’t mean you need to eat an entire sleeve f crackers. Minimize your portions for a lower calorie intake. And don’t forget to exercise every other day, if not every day, for calorie burning.

How To Lose Weight Without Dieting

August 9th, 2010

Are diet pills the answer to all of your woes? Not necessarily. There is no diet pill that can help you to lose weight without some kind of dieting. But there are many experts who would say “never diet, diets are temporary. Change your entire lifestyle.” That’s a technicality at best. For some of us, eating healthy will always seem like some kind of diet. And to be on a perpetual diet is undesirable to anybody. But there are some simple steps that you can take that are not as hard as you may think.

First of all, eat only when you are actually hungry. We eat out of sorrow, out of boredom, and for various other reasons. If you stop to think about it, you are taking in quite a few excess and non essential calories. Your body tells you when it needs food, and outside of that, you do not actually need to eat extra food. This will actually automatically restrict your caloric intake.

Second, use spices. There was a study recently that used what they called “tastants.” Essentially, they have proven that when you have taste to your food, as simple as salt and as fattening as ranch, your body is more likely to realize that it is full. If you use certain spices such as salt, onions, and curry, they are often calorie free, and they make you less likely to overeat.

Third, limit your salt intake. While it can of course help you to eat less because it is a tastant technically speaking, the sodium found in salt can actually hold onto water and make you bloated and uncomfortable, not to mention making you gain a fair amount of weight.

Fourth, eat a little more protein. You don’t have to go on an all protein diet, nor do you have to go out and buy protein shakes. But something as simple as adding an egg in the morning could help you to eat less during the day, and it has been shown to improve the fat burning ability of those who eat more of it.

And finally, take a little time for entertainment. Obviously, laughing can burn more excess calories, and they have found that laughing for just 15 minutes a day works the abs and facial muscles. It can burn up to 40 calories, which is the equivalent of walking half a mile. It should not replace exercise. But it can help in small ways. You can read more at dietpillsthatwork.com

Healthy Eating For Weight Loss

September 15th, 2009

Thoughtful Eating
With all the focus on what to eat—sufficient nutrients, low-calorie, low-fat—it’s easy to forget about one important eating factor: how we eat. In our often too-hurried lives, we forget that eating isn’t just about shoveling in enough calories so that we can get through the day. Nor is it about depriving ourselves and consuming just enough to keep slim. Eating is a joyous occasion. Foods offer delicious flavors, mouth-watering aromas, and pleasing textures—all of which are tied to emotions. Satiety—the feeling of fullness—is a vital, life-affirming feeling.

First, slow down. Avoid rushing through meals. Gulping down foods isn’t good for the digestive system. Plus, chewing slowly aids feeling full without eating as much. For one thing, when you munch in a hurry without thinking, it’s easy to eat too much before you even realize it.

But thoughtful eating is about more than just pace. Vietnamese Buddhist monk Thich Nhat Hanh writes about mindful eating. He says that, before each meal, we should contemplate what we are about to consume. Look at the orange on the plate, he suggests, and see in it the seed that grew into the tree that flowered into the fruit. Be grateful for the earth that cradled the seed, the sun that provided the energy to grow and photosynthesize, the rain that watered the thirsty plant, and the seasons the little tree endured.

Wholesome living and eating is about so much more than just food itself. Life is about enjoyment. Don’t forget to let eating be a part of that joy.

The Best Way To Lose Weight

September 14th, 2009

This spring, my family and I decided to work together to improve each of our eating habits. Feeling Great in eight was the name of our game. For eight weeks, we kept track of everything we consumed—and I do mean everything. For healthy foods, we gained points and for those not-so-nutritious, but oh-so-delicious diversions, we lost them. We each forked up fifteen bucks, and the person with the most points got the dough.

The details of the game can be individualized depending on your individual needs. For example, if everyone is focused on losing weight, you’ll want the negative points for indulging in sugary sweets to be rather hefty, while giving a healthy dose of points for selecting low-fat, low-calorie options. A good way to base the point system is to look at a round diet. This means allotting points for each food group. For each day, you’ll get ten points each for eating three servings of veggies, three servings of fruit, two servings of milk products, and three servings of complete proteins. Allot ten points for drinking sixty ounces of water in a day, as hydration is an important part of a healthy diet. Then deduct ten points for each serving of additional, unnecessary calories. The game can be as simple as that. Or you can get as creative as you want. It’s a good idea to add points for exercise, as physical activity is as important as good nutrients. Add ten points for each continuous fifteen minutes of physical exertion a day. You may want to add bonus points for participating in a mind-beneficial activity like reading, meditating, or cross-word puzzling. Switch it up and have weekly winners of small prizes, so no one feels like they have no chance if someone’s pulling out ahead.

This is a great way to learn about nutrition together and help your family or friends get in shape. Just make sure to be open-minded and focus on your individual gains rather than worrying are doing. Remember, it’s all in good fun. Neither the money nor the win is the true benefit. Getting healthier is.
